September 19: Activities and reflections around earthquakes
The tremor of September 19, 1985 marked the history of Mexico City and a generation of young people who went to the streets to sympathize with the victims; Last year, he shook the country's capital and its people again. To honor all the people who died, they lost their homes and helped rescue the victims in this month a series of commemorative activities will take place. Here we share reflections on date and the agenda of some of the events.
It has been a year of that September 19, day when everything moved and then everything stopped marking a before and after in our lives. The damage is still present, the losses, the gaps, the wounds that had not healed since that other earthquake, on September 19, 1985: "Mexico, city where two rays fall in the same place", narrated Juan Villoro in his emotive poem The Fist in High, written few days After the earthquake.
"The earth does not know the piety, only wants to continue to transform" words of another poet, Jose Emilio Pacheco, that following the earthquake of the 85 published in the magazine process an extensive sequence of poignant and reflective poems on this painful event that shook the country : The ruins of Mexico. He never imagine that his verses would be so effective more than 30 years later.
That's why it takes more than a day to reflect on what happened, and learn to go forward with the emergency backpack laden with teachings, memories, pain and gratitude because while, as Pacheco says, "It will never be possible to accept what happened, do A pact with the quake and say, what happened, happened and it is better to forget "yes it is possible to cling to life with the best of us that arose following this event: solidarity, empathy, prevention, gratitude, humility.
Everyone will assume an attitude and a different way to commemorate this date, however in this blog post we will share some events and activities that help to promote a seismic culture, ie prevention, rescue, and even emotional health.

Documentary short film "September 19"
Film filmed in its entirety with drones that shows what happened before, during and after the devastating earthquake of September 19, 2017 in Mexico City. Through audio rescues, testimonies of survivors and journalistic chronicles, it reflects the uncertainty and bewilderment that caused the tremor.
The filmmaker Arau explained what the process of creating this project consisted of: "It was decided to put this name because it is a chronicle of what happens in Mexico during that day. The documentary starts in the morning, we know it is an important day because we remember many things (the earthquake of 85)… and just that day trembled. We are seeing Mexico City from different angles… is a documentary 100 percent made with drones… gives a different perspective on the situation… like a monster that is there, sheltered by active volcanoes and also trembles and moves. "
According to the site FayerWayer, minutes after the strong movement that felt, Santiago Arau went out into the streets with a drone tied to a bike to get such real images that seem taken out of a horror movie. The film became an aerial chronicle that was complemented by testimonies of those who lived the situation.
The documentary is named "September 19", will be presented at various festivals, including "itinerant", and later will be shared on the Internet so that all people can see for free.
