Tokyo Ready
It is still months before the inauguration of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, but the Japanese organization surprises us by announcing that one of its new venues is ready.
It is not common for Asian countries to be fortunate enough to host the Olympics. Since the Japanese capital did 52 years ago, only Seoul in 1988 and Beijing in 2008 have received the world's best athletes. This is the importance of this celebration, in which Japan wants to show the world who they are and where they are going, i.e. their ability to be innovative, to lead and to look to the future.
This was demonstrated by announcing that less than 900 days to the Olympic joust, his first tangible legacy is ready. This is the Mushino Forest Sport Center, in the district of Chofu, west of Tokyo. There will be the meetings of badminton, fencing and basketball in a wheelchair.
The design, focused on lightness, stands out for its curved lines, composed of panels of different sizes. These were developed through an assessment program based on BIM technology, which incorporates data on resistance to wind pressure and seismic deformation. On the roof were placed solar panels and other technologies of last generation that help to reduce the footprint of carbon, and if it were not enough, it is an inclusive stadium, based on the most recent guidelines of accessibility.
For this edition, Tokyo will have forty facilities: eight new permanent venues, nine temporary and twenty-three remodeled. We will also have the opportunity to see five new sports: Baseball/softball, surfing, karate, sports climbing and skateboarding will be part of the Olympic calendar.
